Privacy Policy

Last updated · 7 June 2026

PeepalTree is a product of Ascentspark Software Pvt. Ltd. (“Ascentspark”, “we”, “us”). We build live and broadcast video infrastructure on a simple principle: your data stays where you choose. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. It is written to align with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP), the EU/UK GDPR, and the California CCPA/CPRA. It is provided for general information and is not legal advice.

Who we are

Ascentspark Software Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian company and the entity responsible for this website. Our registered office is Unit 1102, 11th Floor, P.S. Srijan Corporate Park, G2 Block GP, Salt Lake Sector 5, Kolkata 700075, West Bengal, India. For general information write to info@ascentspark.com; for support or technical difficulties write to support@ascentspark.com.

The short version

  • This website collects only what you share with us (mainly when you book a demo or email us) plus standard analytics. Ascentspark is the controller for that data.
  • PeepalTree in self-hosted mode runs inside your own cloud account and region. Your live video, recordings and end-user data stay in infrastructure you control and are never copied to us. You are the controller; we do not process that production data.
  • PeepalTree in managed (SaaS) mode is operated by Ascentspark on your behalf. Here we process production data as your service provider under your instructions, under a separate services agreement and data processing terms.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

Two deployment modes, two roles

PeepalTree can be deployed two ways, and our privacy role differs accordingly:

  • Self-hosted (in your cloud): you are the data controller for all production data. Media, recordings and user records never leave your environment and are governed entirely by your own policies, retention rules and jurisdiction. Ascentspark has no access to and does not store that data.
  • Managed / SaaS (operated by us): you remain the controller of your end-users’ data; Ascentspark acts as a processor that handles it only to provide the service, on documented instructions, with confidentiality, security and sub-processor commitments set out in our services agreement.

This Privacy Policy primarily covers personal data we collect through this marketing website and during sales and support. Production-data handling in managed mode is governed by your services agreement and its data processing addendum.

What we collect on this website

  • Information you provide: name, company, work email, phone, job title, team size, and anything you write when you request a demo, contact us, or seek support.
  • Usage and device data: pages viewed, referring links, approximate region, browser and device type, and similar analytics collected through cookies and tracking technologies (see below).

Cookies, analytics and tracking

We use a small number of third-party tools to understand how the site is used and to measure our marketing. Where required by law, non-essential cookies and trackers load only after you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

  • Google Analytics - aggregate site usage and performance.
  • Meta Pixel - measurement and audiences for our campaigns.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag - measurement and audiences for our campaigns.

These providers may process data outside India, including in the United States and the EU. Each operates under its own privacy terms. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where shown, through our consent controls.

Why we use your data (purposes and legal bases)

  • To respond to your demo request and schedule a walkthrough, and to answer questions you send us. Legal basis: steps taken at your request / our legitimate interest in responding.
  • To provide and improve the website and understand, in aggregate, how it is used. Legal basis: consent for non-essential analytics; legitimate interest otherwise.
  • To send relevant information about PeepalTree where you have asked us to or where permitted. Legal basis: consent or legitimate interest, with an opt-out always available.

Under DPDP we rely on your consent or on legitimate uses permitted by the Act. Under GDPR we rely on the bases noted above. We process personal data lawfully, fairly and only for the purposes described here.

International data transfers

We are based in India and use service providers that may store or process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) and transfer only what is necessary for the purposes above.

How long we keep it

We keep website and sales-enquiry data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, to maintain our business records, or to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Production data in managed deployments is retained per your services agreement and your instructions.

Your rights

Subject to the law that applies to you, you can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and request a copy.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase data, or restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
  • Port data you provided to us, where applicable.
  • Nominate another person to exercise your DPDP rights in case of incapacity or death.

California residents: you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell personal information, and we honour valid opt-out signals. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise any right, email info@ascentspark.com. We respond within the timelines required by applicable law.

Children

This website is intended for business users and is not directed at children. In self-hosted deployments, any processing of children’s data within the customer’s environment is governed by the customer’s own controls and applicable law, including DPDP requirements for verifiable parental consent.

Security

We apply administrative, technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the data we hold, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and key handling across our stack. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the authorities of a reportable breach as required by law.
